Darrell Hooker

Darrell Hooker joins SVdP Georgia to oversee the day-to-day operations of our 12 Thrift stores in North Georgia and oversee the facilities management at our Chamblee Campus. In addition to being a small business consultant, Darrell brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry as a chef and restaurant operator.
After first moving to Atlanta over 30 years ago to attend Clark-Atlanta University, where he studied English with the hopes of writing the next “Great American Novel,” he remained in Atlanta and is proud to be an “A-T- alien.” Darrell is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served, among other places, in Operation Desert Storm, where he utilized his expertise in logistics in various operations, including the intricate and sensitive work of restoring fallen soldiers to their families. His involvement in the community has extended to a variety of programs here in Atlanta, including “Atlanta Senior Day,” an information and lunch program coordinated with the Atlanta Falcons. As well as an annual shoe drive for people in developing countries coordinated with Dekalb Public Schools and the “Get the Job” workshop preparing high school students to enter the workforce he developed in conjunction with McNair High School.
Darrell is a USTA certified tennis instructor, and when he is not focusing on his two teenage daughters, Darrell and Hannah (Blade Runner being the best Si-Fi movie of all time ), he can be found competing in amateur tennis leagues throughout metro Atlanta, working in his yard, or attempting to write the previously mentioned “Great American Novel.”
