Home Again, Hope Restored
Sarah’s Story
Five years ago, Sarah Clark achieved her dream of renting a house for herself and her three boys. They loved the neighborhood and felt at home.
Then her landlord decided to sell the property and gave her short notice to move. With limited savings, low credit, and no deposit funds, finding another rental was nearly impossible.
Soon, Sarah and her sons were living in a run-down hotel in an unfamiliar and unsafe area. For six months, they shared one room. It wasn’t ideal, but it kept them off the streets.
“It felt like everything I had worked for was slipping away,” Sarah said.
Despite the setbacks, she kept working and searching for help. Eventually, she connected with St. Vincent de Paul’s Motel to Home program, which helped cover deposits and initial costs. At last, she and her boys moved into stable housing again.
“There’s nothing like closing your own front door at night,” she said. “We’re safe again.”
Today, Sarah is committed to strengthening her family’s future and ensuring her boys always have a safe place to call home.
