WHAT

Come celebrate Community Food Day as Amazon is teaming up with St. Vincent de Paul Georgia to provide free food, food trucks, music, giveaways, raffle prizes, connection to community resources, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) information, SNAP Benefits Eligibility Screening and SNAP registration assistance.

SNAP cards can now be used to purchase fresh food on AMAZON with free home delivery thus erasing the challenges of living in a food desert

WHO

Lakewood Community and surrounding residents who live in one of the largest food deserts in Georgia.  Anyone seeking SNAP benefit screening, registration, and training on how to order food from Amazon with SNAP EBT cards is welcome. But be sure to get there before 2 p.m. to get information about community resources and receive free food (while supplies last).

WHY

~ Because Georgia has one of the highest densities of food deserts in the nation

~ 1 in 8 Georgians face hunger and 1 in 7 are children

~ 1.2 million Georgians are facing hunger

~ Georgia has the 6th highest share of low-income areas whose residents also lack adequate access to grocery stores

~ Each food insecure patient in Georgia incurs $1,863 more per year in medical expenditures
