St. Vincent de Paul Georgia is pleased to announce the public phase of its Hope Transformed capital campaign to sustain the future of its new permanent home located at 2050 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, GA 30341. This campaign will allow the consolidation and growth of the nonprofit’s programs and services, positively changing the way SVdP Georgia supports 72 local conferences and more than 5,000 volunteers throughout the state who deliver assistance to over 116,000 Georgians a year.

At its core, SVdP Georgia provides help to Georgia’s most vulnerable families by working to prevent homelessness and fighting hunger. However, breaking the cycle of poverty requires more than emergency assistance. Research by the Brookings Institute is showing the negative impact and perpetuation of poverty that the lack of hope is having on low-income communities. Hope is believing in your future and investing in it for a better outcome. Hope is also having real opportunities for job training and financial education, along with the assurance that your medical needs will be met, and that affordable and reliable childcare is available so that parents can actually pursue these opportunities. Help and hope go hand-in-hand in uplifting families out of poverty and into a better life!

It is the vision and goal of Hope Transformed to provide both help and hope to our community through:

  • A new community pharmacy that will offer free prescription medication, so families do not have to choose between getting medication and paying rent or other bills;
  • An expanded client-choice food pantry augmented by a new teaching kitchen that will both bring fresh and nutritious food to the community, but also the education to create healthy and balanced meals for the family;
  • New connected classrooms that will provide efficient statewide training for clients and SVdP Georgia volunteers so that they can provide the most impactful service to their local community;
  • A new jobs center that will provide workers with the opportunity to advance their careers and pursue better paying jobs so that they can have sustainable financial security.

“We have been amazed by our donors’ support during the quiet phase of the campaign and know the public phase will deliver similarly impressive results,” CEO of SVdP Georgia John Berry, said. “We are grateful for the support and thank all the donors for their generosity and investment in our mission and future of our community.”

SVdP Georgia officially began construction of the new statewide hub for programming and services in January 2020 which spans more than 50,000 square feet of the newly purchased building. This new space will reimagine the way the nonprofit serves neighbors in need, providing a space that welcomes, educates, and empowers those who are ready to take the next step in their lives and will be open in September 2020.

Since launching the Capital Campaign at the beginning of 2019, Hope Transformed has been very successful in raising significant commitments towards the campaign’s $7.5 million goal; and this final Public Phase will allow SVdP Georgia to complete all construction and renovation, as well as completing the acquisition of equipment and fixtures necessary to deliver the programs and services offered.

“We are so appreciative of the support that we have received from companies, foundations and community members. Each and every donor has made our new Conference Support Center possible. We look forward to answering more calls for help, opening more doors of opportunity and helping more neighbors find their paths to self-sufficiency and fulfillment,” said Elizabeth Sirk, Chief Development Officer of SVdP Georgia.

In sum, roughly $650,000 remains to be raised to fulfill the Capital Campaign goal. That’s where the community can help make this campaign a reality. Your support of Hope Transformed will transform more than just bricks and mortar. You will transform the lives of neighbors in need across Georgia, and bring hope to all of those whom are touched by the work and mission of SVdP Georgia.
